Class of 2023 Reports 95 Percent Employment

Ninety Five percent of Albany Law School’s Class of 2023 is employed. For the third year in a row, the most recent graduating class has an employment rate above 90%. With a 95% employment rate, Albany Law School is well above the national average of 85% reported by the ABA last year.

Graduates have secured positions across various sectors, including government, business, public interest, judicial clerkships and private law firms of varying sizes and practice areas.  

“We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2023. These graduates started law school at the height of the pandemic. They demonstrated tenacity by taking advantage of opportunities to gain experience, charting new courses, and becoming highly competitive candidates in a rapidly changing legal landscape. 

These are impressive professionals, and I am excited to learn about their future accomplishments,” said Mary Walsh Fitzpatrick, Assistant Dean of the Career and Professional Development Center.

“This impressive figure is an incredible testament to the hard work of our graduates, the incredible staff in the Career and Professional Development Center, our exceptional and dedicated faculty, and our supportive staff and greater community,” Albany Law School President and Dean Cinnamon P. Carlarne said. “We are incredibly proud of our intellectually engaged and practice-ready graduates. Despite facing significant challenges, the Class of 2023 has excelled and will continue to do so as they begin their legal careers. They are, without doubt, a tremendous group of future lawyers and leaders.”

50% law firms
30% government
8% public interest
4% business and industry
8% clerkships

The Career and Professional Development Center consistently coordinates hundreds of interviews and hosts employer information sessions, networking events, and alumni-practitioner sessions while working in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Advancement and the law school’s 11,000+ alumni network.
Employment data is reported annually in compliance with the American Bar Association.
