Join us to celebrate the retirement of the Honorable Leslie E. Stein (ret.) ’81, the Director of the Government Law Center. Judge Stein has had many roles at Albany Law School, from student, to trustee, and to Director of the Government Law Center. Since stepping into the role of Director in 2021, Judge Stein has led the growth and prominence of the GLC.

Judge Stein came to Albany Law School and the Government Law Center as the Director and used her remarkable career and esteemed reputation to continue to enhance the Albany Law School brand across all sectors of the government and the broader community. Under Judge Stein’s leadership, the Center has reinvigorated and sustained incredible programming that connects current students with enhanced learning experiences and builds upon Albany Law School’s tremendous network of alumni and other partners to assist the public in understanding the work of government. The GLC team, under her guidance and empowering support, has enhanced programs such as the terrific GLC Fellows program and revitalized events such as the Edwin L. Crawford Memorial Lecture on Municipal Law. The Center has also created new programs and partnerships, such as the Fair Trial/Free Press Conference, publishing explainers to help the general public understand New York state constitutional amendments that are going to the ballot, the Improving Interbranch Communications Project, and more. These are just a sampling of the ways that Judge Stein’s leadership has enhanced the Center’s already established reputation and notoriety.

Help us send Judge Stein into a well-deserved retirement and thank her for her stalwart service to Albany Law School.

The event will include a dessert reception and a champagne toast.
