Mr. Benedict retired as a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in 2016. He was chairman of the firm’s Litigation and Arbitration Group and head of its Securities Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining Milbank he was a partner at Clifford Chance where he served as the head of the Global Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice.

Mr. Benedict received the Trustee Gold Medal in January 2014 for his dedication and commitment to the Law School. Jim was the first supporter of the Government Law Center’s  Lawyer in Residence initiative. He was past president of the Law School Alumni Council and was an editor on the Albany Law Review for 2 years as a student.

Jim received his undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University.
