Mr. McCraw is Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for the New York Times Company. Prior to this position, he served as assistant general counsel for the New York Times, and was deputy general counsel at the New York Daily News from 2000 to 2002. Before that he worked at Clifford Chance LLP, and Roger & Wells for six years.

He handles Freedom of Information Law litigation and provides legal counsel to the newsrooms at the Times, The Boston Globe, The International Tribune and numerous other publications and websites.

He was Albany Law School's Alumnus in Residence in 2013, where he talked to students about his experience during the WikiLeaks saga. He graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1992. While a student he was an associate editor on the Albany Law Review.

Mr. McCraw is an adjunct professor at NYU Law School.

David received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois.
