The Mediation Apprenticeship Clinic provides an opportunity for selected students who have completed the course in Mediation to continue their mediation training by mediating small claims and other appropriate cases in local courts, under the direct supervision of an experienced mediator, certified mediation trainer and licensed attorney. If the mediation results in an agreement, students will be responsible for drafting the agreement. If no resolution is reached, students will be responsible for drafting a paper reflecting on the mediation. The apprenticeship will include case review/debriefing sessions attended by all student apprentices where each mediation is discussed, analyzed and evaluated. There will be a one-hour/week classroom component for additional training and reflection.
