Join us for the induction of the inaugural class of the Maroon Jackets as we celebrate two individuals who have made a significant contribution to the continuation of the Women’s Rugby program.

The Maroon Jackets were conceptualized in 2024 by a group of Women’s Rugby alumni who were eager to reinvigorate the Women’s Rugby alumni base. This group of amazing individuals includes Renée Behrens ’12, Calee Oas ’14, Érina Fitzgerald ’14, and current President Farrah Fiacco ’24. The purpose of the Maroon Jackets is to honor alumni who have made significant contributions to the continuation of the Albany Law Misdemeanors and bring the women’s alumni together. In recent years, many of our alumni have moved back to the Capital Region and this ceremony is a perfect avenue to bring everyone into one room to celebrate the hard work and outstanding contributions of their peers and fellow ruggers. Moving forward, we hope our alumni will become an even tighter knit community that stays active with the current team.

There are a few criteria for being awarded a Maroon Jacket. The alumnae must have graduated at least five years prior to the year in which they are being considered for the award. Additionally, the alumnae must have made a significant contribution to the continuation of the Women’s Rugby program. The measure of a significant contribution is based on the discretion of the selection committee. Each nomination for a Maroon Jacket must be accompanied by an explanation as to the extent of the alumnae’s contribution to the team.

Each year, the Maroon Jacket awardees become part of the selection committee in conjunction with the current President of the team. The purpose of including the current President is to ensure that the current team has a voice in the selection process.

The Maroon Jackets Inaugural Class includes Érina J. Fitzgerald ’14 and Calee M. Oas ’14.

This event is part of the broader Watkins Weekend.
