The LL.M. (Master of Laws) program is an internationally recognized postgraduate law degree. The graduate program is interested in attracting candidates seeking to gain expertise in a specialized field of law.
Admission to the LL.M. program requires electronically submitting an application with all the required materials before the deadline. Required items include the completed application, Credential Assembly Service Law School Report, LSAT score, undergraduate transcripts, two letters of recommendation, resume, and one-page statement describing the reasons why you wish to pursue this degree.
LL.M. Applicants from Abroad
This LLM program is designed for foreign law graduates who seek an academic program in order to qualify for the
Uniform Bar Exam (UBE). An applicant who has studied in a foreign country may qualify to take the Uniform Bar Exam to practice in New York state by submitting to the New York State Board of Law Examiners satisfactory proof of the legal education as required by
Part 520.6 of the Rules of the Court of Appeals for the Admission of Attorneys and Counselors at Law. For foreign law graduates whose law degree does not meet the durational equivalency requirements, the applicant can satisfy the requirements by earning an LLM degree from a full-time or part-time program in an approved law school in the United States. The LLM Program at Albany Law School is an approved program that prepares and qualifies foreign-educated law graduates to sit for the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE).

LL.M. Applicants from the United States
This LLM program is for graduates of ABA-approved law schools in the United States. The LLM program for US Law Graduates offers several different study options. Candidates may specialize in government administration and regulation, health law, intellectual property law, or international law, or may design a course of study other than those specialized programs. Applicants are reminded that this application will only be considered upon receipt of all required materials. Applicants for the LL.M U.S. Graduates program can apply at any time and be considered for Fall, Spring or Summer admission depending on when their application is complete.
