Gregory B. Butler '88

Greg Butler is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Northeast Utilities system (NU) where he is responsible for Legal, Governmental and Regulatory Affairs and Communications. He joined NU in 1997 as Vice President of Governmental Affairs and in 2001 assumed the duties as Vice President and General Counsel. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 2003 and was Secretary from May 2001 to December 2005.

Prior to joining NU, Butler was vice president of Federal Affairs at New England Electric System, and senior counsel for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. He was also a senior attorney with the United States Department of Justice and an associate counsel to the Minority Leader for the New York State Assembly.

Mr. Butler was Alumnus in Residence in the spring of 2011. At that time he also moderated a panel for In-House Counsels. He is a former member of the Government Law Center Advisory Board.
